Reports About The Science Week In Germany, November 2009

The trip to Germany has been wonderful. I was hosted by a nice girl named Chantal, and I was fine. I also had a warm welcome from her mother and her grandmother Renate. The days spent there were very busy but full of fun. The first morning we went to school where there were all my Italian school-mates, and also the German and Spanish kids. German school is very different from ours: a canteen, lots of art laboratories and very large classrooms. The following morning we went to university and to a coal mine in Essen. Every evening, instead, we were all together and went to the bowling alley, shopping center, skating and so on. My partner had an Italian friend, Alessia I immediately made friend with and together we went to Alessia’s for a dinner. Then they came to a party where all together laughed and joked. The morning of departure I was very sad because I didn’t want to leave Chantal, but luckily we are staying in touch and writing e-mails. I had a wonderful experience because I had new friends, I knew kids with a lifestyle completely different from mine. I also enhanced my English language skills, met new people and I could experience the thrill of travelling by plane. It has been one of the most beautiful experiences in my life, and thanks to the bond that was born during those seven days with Anna, Giulia, Giulia C., Roberta, Jolly, Nico, Antonio and Luca, too.

The experience in Germany has been very interesting. I went to Germany in November, I met very nice people and I knew habits different from ours. My partner’s name is Jana D. and she lives with her mother and her sister Jassy in Oberhausen: they were very kind to me; after school Jana and her mother took me skating on ice or to the bowling or to the centre. In the morning my Italian friends and I went to school and there we did experiments or listened to the lessons of chemistry. We wore a white apron and glasses to protect our eyes during the experiment. We visited the Industrial museum in Essen, a big city near Oberhausen. For lunch we ate pasta, meat with mushrooms and a chocolate with cherry.

Hello everyone, my name is Giusy.
In the first week of November some of my Italian school-mates and I went to Germany for the project Comenius. I will never forget this experience because I had the chance to know a new culture and nice people. I hope that everyone can have a similar experience because everything was fantastic: the travel and the food. During that week my level of English has improved. I had the opportunity of playing basketball with disabled girls and boys. It was great to play with them. I think that everyone in the life even if different, can have the same possibilities as we took this. I think that such a great experience is important for young people. My teachers and my Italian friends were fantastic. I thanked Christina and her family for the interesting experience. During the week in Germany every student was involved in the project did chemistry experiments at school and at the University of Essen.
I met Spanish people too, now I’m looking forward to meeting them again in March. I know that all this will be the best time in my life.
Goodbye Giusy IV AP

This amazing experience was fantastic and so important for me! I have never been to Germany before and I think that it is one of the nicest nations in Europe. At first it was a bit hard because we didn’t know our partners but then, step by step we made friends with them. My partner is really kind, he is very popular in his city in fact he knows a lot of people and a lot of people know him. It’s something really good because friendship is one of the most important values in my life. The first day at school was so funny because German school is really different from ours. They have a lot of free time to spend out, they have a large chemistry laboratory where they do a lot of experiments. There we did important experiments, we wore a white apron and a pair of glasses. It was very interesting!. The days after were really busy: we visited the city, we went to the bowling, to the shopping center all together and we had fun. I’d like to come back there as soon a possible to meet my German friends again.

My experience in Germany has been really exciting because I have known many kids from different nations and different cultures I compare to. We did several experiments at German school and in the laboratory of Essen University. I realized that school is very different from ours: there, for example, boys ad girls spent a lot of time within the school, not as it happens in Italy. During the week in Germany I was with a girl, Annica, as a guest and an amiable Spanish girl, Elena. German people are open-minded and helpful and I was very well with them. We spent a lot of our time with German and Spanish partners. We went bowling and skating, I enjoined very much. I miss my foreign friends a lot. I hope to see them as soon as possible.

We left from Bari Palese airport. We took the plane at 12:00 and arrived in Cologne at 2:00 p.m.. Mandy was my German partner. She and her family came and picked me up at the airport to take me to the High School in Oberhausen. After the greetings to the professor we went to our partners’ houses. In the following days we went to school and we met German and Spanish students involved in the Comenius project. In the morning we visited, all together, Oberhausen high school, the University of Essen, the coal mine in Essen and the “CENTRO” the largest shopping center in Europe. At 13:00 after school we returned home to eat with our partners or, sometimes we went together to Mcdonald’s. In the afternoon we met to go walking in the mall or in town or we went to buy souvenirs for our families. In the evening we were all together at home or went bowling. We made friends with foreign students and it was a wonderful experience! The best moments were when we were all together and spoke in different languages. Spanish and German kids are very nice. I believe that it was the best experience in my life! And I hope to do it again! Our friendship is going on!

I have had a wonderful experience abroad thanks to the Comenius project. We went to a Germany city called Oberhausen from the 2nd to the 7th of November. I left with some school-mates and three teachers from Bari Palese airport to spend a week in Germany. When we arrived there we were so exciting because we didn’t know that country. During that week we knew a new culture, new traditions and customs. I was very happy to live with a German family and to learn many things as regards German habits. From my point of view German people are very hospitables, simple and always helpful. My German partner was Lena; she was a very good and nice girl who was always happy.
Every morning we got up at 7 o’clock and we went to school near our house and I met my Italian friends and the Spanish students too. In the afternoon we were free to organize some activities with other partners

Hello!
I’m Giulia, a girl that has taken part in the project Comenius in Germany where I was from 2 to 7 of November with my Italian friends, some Spanish and some German students. I remember every moment of this experience because it has been very useful for my formation. I knew fantastic people and German customs and traditions. I wish everybody had this experience because I think that when you go to countries different from yours you can always learn something. During our stay in Germany we visited many interesting places and we did many interesting chemistry experiments at school and at the University of Essen. In the evenings we went to the bowling and to a German girl’s for a party. What a great time! I thank my German partner Meike, her father Mark and her mother Iris for the hospitality and I’m looking forward to returning their kindness when Meike will come to Italy in March. Meike made me laugh so much. I also thank the Spanish people: they are very nice. Finally I thank my Italian friends because they are very special, I am very happy to have had this experience with them. I hope I’ll go to Spain in March.
Good Bye! Giulia IV AP

When we arrived we waited for our partners in the school. We spent the first day at school for a scientific competition and in the afternoon we went around the city with our partners. The most beautiful experience was when we went to University to do some chemical experiments. The following day we went to a coal mine. I didn’t go to the highest flat because I felt drizzy but I followed the visit with a great interest. We went to the city all together, we went to the bowling, to ice-skating and to a very big center. The last day Nicola’s partner organized a party and everbody participated. The day when we left I was very sad but I hope to keep in contact with all partners. Bye bye guys!
